The concept of angels is an interesting one and one that is not just unique to Christianity. If you look through some of the world’s religions you will often come across references to beings that have some supernatural power or some role as guardians of the devout followers of whatever the religion might be. Of course these beings are not always referred to as angels and their appearance almost always differs from one religion to another but their fundamental purpose appears to be the same.
In Christianity some angels seem to be more important than others. Some are actually sent to speak to faithful followers while others remain silent and impart their message through visions and the like. Even in modern spiritualism it’s possible to see the concept of angels appearing in the form of the spirits that are the contacts that mediums connect with.
